Article summary

A Kit is a unique inventory item in that it is a combination of other inventory items. Sometimes you have to create during the time of sale. An example would be a flower arrangement. One customer might want a combination of three different types of flowers, while another might prefer a bouquet with five flowers.

Before you sell a kit, you need to first set it up as an inventory item.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Go to Operations > Inventory > Inventory.

  1. In the Inventory Management screen, click on Add at the top of the screen to add a new product.

  1. In the Add Inventory screen, select Kits in the Type of Product drop-down field.

  1. In the Description field, enter a title for the kit you are about to create. (E.g. Flower Arrangement). Choose an existing Department or add a new Department by clicking on the **+**sign. Then setup the Cost, Margin, and Price if required.

  1. Click on Save when finished.

  2. You will automatically be brought back to the Inventory screen. Located on the right side of the Inventory Screen is an area titled Other Info. In this area you can personalize available kit defaults.

  1. To enable the customization of the kit during a sale, select the **Can Edit Main Kit Parts?**option. You can also check the boxes to edit the kit defaults. Click Kit Edit to assemble and customize a kit.

  1. Enter the PLU of the item you wanted added to the kit, and then press Enter.

  1. To add more items to the kit, click on the Add button to enter another PLU, then pressEnter. Repeat this process until all the items are entered.

  1. Click on Save when finished. You will be brought back to the Inventory Maintenancescreen.

  1. Click on Save and then Quit (both at the top of your screen) to leave the Inventory screen.
